What Dentures Cost

Getting dentures can be very rewarding for you. Most full sets of dentures cost between $300 and $5,000 depending on quality. If you only need the top or the bottom set of false teeth you can divide that price in half. The price for dentures does not include dentist fees for office visits and x-rays. Be sure that the brand of dentures you decide upon comes with a warranty covering the cost of replacements in the case of cracking or chipping. A good warranty lasts for 1 to 2 years.

At the cheaper end of the dentures spectrum, around $300 to $1,000, you’ll get a shorter lasting warranty and less realistic looking dentures which are usually made of plastic. Premium model dentures, ranging in the thousands, come with a much better warranty and look like real teeth and gums. The high end model denture teeth are typically made of ceramic to look more like natural teeth.

Luckily denture sets are often covered by insurance. Even Medicare will cover some of the costs affiliated with the preparation for getting dentures, such as extractions. There are credit card companies that can front some of the dental costs and then you make monthly payments to them. One such credit card company is Care Credit, which is accepted by many dentist’s offices. Be sure to call ahead and ask if your dentist will accept the credit card you plan to use.

Although your regular dentist can, and many times does, handle the entire denture process, going to a prosthodontists is your best bet. Prosthodontists are dentists that specialize in dentures and tooth replacement. They are a little more costly to visit but they have at least 3 years more training than your dentist on average, and are much more qualified in the denture process.
